How to play Daily Word
Daily Word gives you six guesses at a shared five-letter word. Read the coloured feedback, account for repeated letters and solve the puzzle in as few guesses as possible. The answer changes at midnight in Poland.
This edition uses the existing English puzzle and dictionary. Your English guesses, results and streak are stored separately from the Polish edition. The daily reset follows midnight in Poland.
Start a game
- Enter a valid five-letter English word and select Check.
- Use green, yellow and grey feedback to refine the next guess.
- Submit at most six accepted guesses.
- Return on the next day to extend a winning streak.
- Share the coloured result grid without revealing the answer.
Reading the colours
- Green means the correct letter in the correct position.
- Yellow means the letter occurs in the answer, but at another position.
- Grey means the letter is absent, or all its available occurrences are already accounted for by other coloured squares.
- The keyboard retains the strongest feedback received for each letter.
Dictionary and repeated letters
Guesses must be accepted five-letter words in the English game dictionary, including accepted inflected forms. An unrecognised word does not consume a guess; you can edit it and try another.
This edition uses the 26 letters A–Z. A word containing a letter once does not make two copies of that letter in a guess both correct. Each green or yellow square accounts for a separate occurrence in the answer.
Days, profiles and rewards
The daily answer changes at midnight in the Europe/Warsaw time zone, including daylight-saving changes. Every player receives the same answer for that day. Refreshing does not reset the guesses attached to your profile.
A solved day awards 20 coins, with 10 more for solving within three guesses. Each seventh day of a winning streak awards another 100; an unsuccessful completed day awards 5. A missed or lost day breaks the streak. These rewards and statistics are game progress, not cash.
A guest can play, but a registered account helps preserve the same progress across supported browsers and the existing Karciak Android app.
Example: one letter, two guesses in the same row
Suppose the answer contains exactly one copy of a letter and your guess contains two. Only one position can receive feedback for that occurrence. A grey duplicate does not necessarily mean the letter is completely absent: another square may already have used its one occurrence.
Read feedback as a set of constraints, then choose a word testing useful remaining positions or letters. Repeating a known wrong placement wastes information even when the word is valid.
Strategy and useful habits
- Use the keyboard’s feedback to track tested letters.
- Account for how many times a letter can occur.
- Use five-letter words accepted by the English dictionary.
- Share the result grid rather than the answer text.
Common mistakes
- Using Polish words in the English puzzle.
- Assuming every duplicate must receive a colour.
- Expecting a refresh to provide six new guesses.
- Expecting the day to reset at midnight in your own time zone.
Questions and answers
When does the word change?
At midnight in the Europe/Warsaw time zone.
Does an invalid word use a guess?
No. Dictionary rejection lets you edit the guess.
Can I share without spoiling the answer?
Yes. The share control copies the coloured grid, date and attempt count without its letters.
